Healthy Credit

At Griffin Knights Realty Corp, we are firm believers in financial education which will help you understand your credit report (FICO), credit card debt, credit bureaus, identity theft, bankruptcy and more. This is the first step forward toward your financial health and stability away from foreclosure.

Your credit is your reputation when it comes to your ability to borrow and to own property and it is YOUR responsibility. In our society is it used as your financial identity number; the lenders, lease agents, employers and others use your credit as much as they use your social security number.

Remember, your credit cards serve as an instrument that allows you to buy what you want when you want. They are not free money and every dollar you charge will eventually have to be paid back with a substantial interest charge.

FUNDAMENTAL STEPS of HAVING A HEALTHY CREDIT

  • Always stay within your available credit limit on your card(s)
  • Pay (at least) the minimum amount that is due on time
  • Avoid payment fees and negative reporting to credit bureaus
  • Keep balances low on credit cards and other revolving credit. (Max should be 10% of your total limit)
  • Apply for new credit accounts only as needed
  • Re-establish your credit history if you have had problems
  • If you are having trouble making ends meet, contact your creditors or see a legitimate credit counselor.
